A new year

A new year. A fresh start. Promises of new things. The new year offers the promise of new beginnings. When we deal with the crisis of a pastor’s fall it seems that things will never get better, never improve, but they do! With the beginning of a new year I’m seeing some wonderful signs of rebirth, change, hope. Time and the work of God are wonderful. Over time the faces change, the scars heal, the pain diminishes, memories fade. Over time our church is healing. I wondered if I would ever see it, but I think I’m beginning to see hope, sunshine, better days. The price has been high. The process has been difficult, but I think I see a sunrise on the horizon.

There is hope. God will work. Don’t give up. In spite of what has happened in your church you will begin to see a fresh reviving of God’s work in the lives of people around you. It will take time, but it will happen.

  1. Mike, sent you an email a little while ago.
Figured I would also post a reply in some way to show my support for your blog. You have helped me greatly in reading of the progression of your healing, and it has allowed me to sit back, calm down, and reflect on what has happened/is happening in our church.
My father-in-law is the pastor of our church and was just revealed to have had an affair with one of his wife’s former best friends. It had been going on for a couple of years, and he had lied and manipulated family and church family to the point that everyone has been affected. The “light” as described in John 3:20 revealed just how far-reaching this evil web had been weaved. This ordeal is all of 4 days old, and I know we have a long road ahead of us, but I am praying our church will be stalwort, not a statistic.
Thanks again for sharing your story.

  2. Dan,

thank you for your note. I am sorry to hear about your church and the closeness of it to your own family. I will be praying for you. I’m sure it’s even closer to you because of your wife and the hurt she is experiencing. If I can do anything to help let me know. I will help any way I can. If you would like to visit about it by Skype send me a note and I will be sure to connect with you. Just know that I will be praying for you, your wife, your mother-in-law and your church. God will see you through all of this.

    Mike
